TOG24 kindly sent over some gear which has helped me get well into my hiking stride this summer.
I’ve been wearing the Stutton Waterproof Jacket in coral red, guaranteed to brighten up a dull day, the Raywell women’s tech t-shirt for warmer weather and a cosy hoody for snuggling into at the end of an active day. Here’s how it performed.

I’ve always loved walking and the outdoors but I’ve really got into long hikes in a big way over the last sixteen months. It soon became clear that I needed some good outdoor activewear.
Something breathable, moisture-wicking and quick-drying for hotter days and a waterproof, lightweight but warm jacket for the wet, chilly days we’ve recently had in our part of the UK.
In the past year I’ve hiked in the Lake District, Somerset, the Isle of Wight, Dorset and of course many walks closer to home like the Seven Sisters Cliffs – one of my favourite hikes.
About TOG24
TOG24 has been on my radar for some time. They’re a Yorkshire based, family-run company and have been creating high quality outdoor and sports gear since 1958. The company was founded by Donald Ward, and is run by his son and grandson today.
The hills and dales of Yorkshire are the inspiration for their outdoor gear which is value for money, no-nonsense, high quality and designed to last. A bit like my hubs, Mr Jones, who also happens to be from Yorkshire…
TOG24 started off making footwear, sports bags and football kits. Nowadays, as well as producing walking boots, waterproofs and fleeces the company make ski-wear and have a range of casual clothing which sell from over 60 outlets in the UK and Ireland and online.
TOG24 stands for “Truth Over Glory Everyday”. We’re not about the “Glory” side of the outdoors; Planting flags on mountains or skiing down sheer ice walls, we’re about the “True” outdoors that everybody can be involved with; walking with friends to the pub or skiing with the family to a bar.
I couldn’t agree more. Who needs gear capable for climbing the Eiger when you just want to walk the dog or do a bit of hill walking.
The Stutton Waterproof Jacket
I’ve been looking for a waterproof jacket with a bit of extra warmth for the chilly days we’ve been having this year. Apart from the occasional sunny day, I’m still waiting for summer to start.
The Styling
Styling is thoughtful with loads of great features in the design. The adjustment toggles cinch in the waist to give a flattering feminine shape. The jacket finishes at the hip and is slightly longer at the back to give a bit of bum coverage which I like.
There’s a whole lot of detail in the toggles and trims. The TOG24 logo and Yorkshire Rose badge match the fabric.
I really like the magnetic fasteners integrated into the zip placket. This means the zip covering automatically closes so no draughts or rain can sneak in. There’s also a press stud at the bottom.
The hood is adjustable for a snug fit when the weather demands. The funnel necked chin-guard stops the wind and rain whipping around your neck but isn’t restricting or annoying.
There are press stud cuff adjusters too which look a lot classier than an elasticated cuff. The jacket has two roomy pockets with magnets in the plackets. There’s also a third internal zipped pocket.
Waterproof and windproof
I’ve worn the Stutton a couple of times and the rain rolled straight off. The DWR water repellent coating stopped the rain soaking into the fabric and kept me completely dry. The taped seams stop rain leakage and draughts and it’s breathable which means I don’t get too hot.
The Sizing
I ordered the TOG24 jacket in a size 14 because I wanted room underneath for a thick fleece. I’m a 12-14 and the jacket is true to size. I probably could have got away with a size 12 but this way I can wear a single layer underneath for autum and add an extra layer to wear the Stutton right though winter.
- Price – The TOG24 Stutton jacket is currently on sale at £75 reduced from £130
- Colours – Coral, Pacific Blue, Faded Pink, Navy
- Sizes 8-20 (UK)
The Verdict
When it comes to wet, windy weather this TOG24 waterproof jacket keeps me warm and dry without being heavy and bulky.
The fabric looks and feels like cotton and doesn’t have that plastic look that some waterproof jackets have. It looks good with its feminine waistline and adjustable hood and cuffs. I can see myself wearing the Stutton right through the autumn and beyond.
The TOG24 Raywell Women’s Tech T-Shirt
I think when I ordered this t-shirt I must have jinxed the weather. I was looking for a breathable, performance top for summer walking and this fits the bill perfectly. Since I wore it to Old Harry Rocks in Dorset the sun’s been hiding.
Old Harry Rocks, Dorset
The Raywell is super soft, lightweight, stretchy and extremely flattering. It has a plain front, which I like, I’m not into fussy, and a textured back. The scoop neck and curved seams at the front give it a comfortable drape.
The cap sleeves have narrow turn-ups which flatter the arms. There’s a discrete TOG24 logo on the chest.
This TOG24 tech t-shirt is perfect for walking in warm weather. I tested it out on a hike to Old Harry Rocks in Dorset last month. It was a hot sunny day and the top felt really good to wear. The moisture wicking, breathable fabric and anti-chafe seams kept me cool and dry.
The Verdict
I wore the Raywell top on 3-mile hike in hot weather. It kept me dry and cool and is now my go to top for summer walks. I like it a lot.
- Price – TOG24 Raywell tech t-shirt currently on sale at £17.50 reduced from £25
- Colours – Khaki, Atlantic Blue, Faded Pink and Rose Pink
- Sizes 8-18 (UK)
The TOG24 Agatha Women’s Hoody
After a hike in the elements it’s good to get home and snuggle into something warm and cosy. The Agatha hoody from TOG24s casual range is exactly that. The peach finish fabric is super-soft and inside is brushed for additional snuggle factor.
I love the fun embroidered ‘getaway’ logo (we can dream) and the deep kangaroo pocket. The hood is double layered and of course you’ll find the Yorkshire Rose label on the pocket.
The Verdict
The perfect cosy hoody for warming up after being out in the cold and for generally just chilling at home.
- Price – TOG24 Agatha Womens Hoody currently on sale at £28 reduced from £40
- Colours – Ice Grey
- Sizes 8-24 (UK)
I’m really impressed with the TOG24 products I’ve tried out and would highly recommend the brand. If you’re looking for good quality, value for money gear for outdoor activities or for every day wear then TOG24 ticks all the boxes.
These items were gifted to me for the purpose of this review, however, I have no hesitation in recommending TOG24 and will likely purchase from them in the future.
