Life’s a Beach at Timothy Beach Resort, St Kitts

Timothy Beach Resort, St Kitts

Timothy Beach is set on Frigate Bay, St Kitts – the island’s only resort hotel that sits on the Caribbean Sea. If that’s not enough then the cooling breezes of the Atlantic Ocean are just a five minute walk away on the other side of the slim peninsular. One resort, two oceans!

Location

The island’s capital, Basseterre, is less than a mile away and the airport just three miles away. If you want to hire a car and explore the island, and it’s small enough to do that, there’s free parking at the resort. The Strip, which is the strip of beach next to the resort, comprises of laid-back bar shacks and cafes and are just a short sandy stroll away.

Timothy Beach is set in lush, lawned gardens planted with colourful tropical shrubs and trees. The few surrounding buildings are low-rise and don’t encroach on the views of the countryside or bay. You’ll spot a fair bit of wildlife at Timothy Beach. Vervet monkeys live in nearby trees and also I saw mongoose, egrets, a clutch of chickens and a cockerel in the grounds.

My Room at Timothy Beach

My one-bedroom suite was more of an apartment and had everything needed for a self-catering break. A small family would have more than enough room in one of these suites. My room was on the ground floor so had a patio and small garden area which looked out over the grounds and to sea. First floor rooms have a balcony. There were sun beds for relaxing but the beach was my favourite spot. There’s a small area of beach set aside for guests which has free sun beds. It’s the perfect spot to watch the sun go down.

The front door of my one-bed suite opened into a large, light and airy living space and kitchen area. All accommodation had all just been freshly redecorated and also comes fully air-conditioned. The entire resort is non-smoking.

With a hob, fridge-freezer, small oven and coffee maker there’s everything you’d need to prepare a meal and a dining area to eat it in. As there are so many fabulous restaurants on the island I didn’t need to use it except to make a coffee but there’s plenty of space and facilities to cater for a family.

The living area is large, bright and spacious with tiled floor, cane furniture seating area and cable TV and was spotlessly clean. There’s free in-room wi-fi which was was speedy with a good signal.

The Bedroom

Triple aspect windows meant the bedroom was light and airy with great views.  A comfy bed meant I slept really well during my stay. There was plenty of storage space for clothes and a dressing table and mirror. Rooms are made up and cleaned daily and all the staff at Timothy Beach were friendly and helpful.

The bathroom had a spacious rainforest shower but no bath tub. It was a bit on the small side but as I was on my own it wasn’t a problem.

Food and Drink at Timothy Beach

Breakfast is served in the resort’s Sunset Cafe restaurant which is the perfect spot with fabulous views over the clear blue ocean. I’d have a big plate of fresh fruit each morning because I knew I’d be eating big-time during the day but a continental breakfast was also available. I could have quite happily sat in the cafe all day just soaking up that view. Evenings see things liven up with cocktails and  a ‘West Indian meets international’ style of cuisine. There’s live music and a West Indian buffet one night a week. Of course when you fancy a change there are plenty of excellent restaurants on the island to check out.

What to do at Timothy Beach

If you want a change from the beach there’s a freshwater pool set up a level above the cafe. For golfers the island’s golf course is less than five minute’s walk away and tennis courts are ten minute’s walk away. Go snorkelling to spot colourful fish in the reef just around the corner from the resort. Check out my St Kitt’s island adventure post for more activities.

The Strip

Adjoining the resort’s beach you’ll find the lively ‘Strip’ which is a row of chilled beach bars and casual eateries. They’re all right on the sand and just a stone’s throw from the water and offer a range of West Indian and international foods. If you just wanted to chill for a week and not move from the beach then here’s the place to do it.

Timothy Beach overlooks something! What is it your asking. The Caribbean Sea is my answer. After spending a further two weeks there this year, I can say it’s heaven on Earth. From the moment you arrive, to the minute you leave, the staff, the food the relaxing atmosphere, is what everyone needs. Don’t overlook this fantastic hotel, or its heavenly location.

I'm getting a weird sense of deja vu as I was certain I had left a comment on this but now wondering if I accidentally wrote it on the end of one of your other posts so if you've got a comment from me somewhere that makes no sense, that'll be why! Anyway what I was going to say was that this resort looks lush and the bedroom honestly look like they're bigger than most London homes! ???? And for somewhere so elegant & close to such a pretty beach, it really does seem quite good value to me!

It's the perfect place to chill on the beach or as a base to explore St Kitts Shikha. Great value for families on a budget as it was self-catering and very reasonable.

This looks amazing and is somewhere I'd love to stay at - doubt if I'd leave the resort. Shame about the name though!
