I couldn’t decide which Havana photograph to feature on The Friday Photo this week – so you’ve got five Havana photos! I hope the colour and energy of Havana brightens your day.

I like the contrast of the vibrant red sheen and gleaming chrome of the car against the peeling pastel paint and flaking masonry of the buildings behind. I hope this photo conveys how vibrant this city is.
El Capitolio Nacionale
I had to include o picture of El Capitolio Nacionale. Being excited about being in a new city I got up really early and took a look out of my hotel window. Wow what a view! Modelled on the US Capitol Building in Washington DC the Cuban version is slighter taller. Cocking a snook at the US maybe?
Partagas Cigar Factory
Cuba is famous for its cigars. Partagas Cigar Factory in the centre of Havana is one of the factories where you can see them being made. I like the colours and lines in the photo and the fifties feel that the truck gives. There’s a small bar and shop in the Partagas factory which is great to visit. As soon as you step inside it smells of cigars and leather. There’s a bar to sit and have a drink while you ponder the whole range of Partagas cigars if you’re looking to buy. Partagas also does a factory tour which is worth a visit. You’ll need to check times and days as these vary.
Havana Tarot Reader
Colour and characters – Cuba is brimming with both. This tarot reader had another six cigars lined up on her table to last her through the day. There are brightly dressed women all over the city smoking huge cigars. They’ll be wanting to have their photos taken by you – for a small fee of course.
