One of my favourite regions of the UK is the north-eastern coast and the area of Northumberland – raw, rugged and at one with nature.  The shot below is of Bamburgh Castle which I took one wild and woolly September when the North Sea was particularly unforgiving. Sprawling dramatically across nine acres of land, high on its rocky perch above the Northumberland coastline, Bamburgh is one of the largest inhabited castles in the United Kingdom.

As you travel through Bamburgh Village heading North look out for a little street on your right called ‘The Winding’.  Turn down here and head for the sand dunes to one of the small car parks. You’ll be greeted with one of the most spectacular views you will ever see…
