THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
If you’ve been following my Instagram and Facebook feeds you’ll have seen my photos and know that I’m in Vietnam right now and celebrated New Year’s Eve in Ho Chi Minh City. Sorry. So not Sorry! We did the same in 2011/12 with dinner at the rooftop terrace of the Rex Hotel and loved it so much we went back and did it all over again this year. It was just as amazing second time round.
Another New Year’s Eve that I loved was Millennium Eve 1999 which was spent with 12 very special friends counting the clock down to midnight with champagne and streamers on London’s Tower Bridge. The atmosphere was electric, strangers became friends on that bridge, and we all had a ball. Another classic New Year memory. There have been parties, quiet nights in with friends and a few drinks down at the pub over the years – all different and all special.
How do you celebrate New Year?
So, how and where did you celebrate over the New Year period this year? Were you dancing in the fountains at Trafalgar Square as fireworks lit up the midnight sky? Maybe you were cozied up in front of a roaring fire with the person you love most in the world or perhaps you addressed the haggis at Hogmanay. What does New Year’s Day hold for you? Do you have family traditions? We like a New Year walk along the seafront or in the woods if we’re at home in Sussex followed by a classic English roast dinner with the family.
Share your #BestAtNewYear moment and win (it’s easy!)
Whatever you did to celebrate the New Year, however loudly or quietly, the people at Best at Travel would love to know about it. They want to create a snapshot of how and where people across the UK celebrate the New Year period and there’s a fabulous prize for the winner of this easy to enter photo competition.
Share your perfect #BestAtNewYear moment and you could win a five-night stay and flights for two to the Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah in Dubai! This five star hotel is the perfect starting point for exploring this incredible city, and includes facilities such as two swimming pools, a private beach and a seriously luxurious spa. Go see the world’s tallest building and the largest global shopping mall before exploring the deserts and traditional souks, then, take in the unbelievable views of Dubai from the comfort of your room. Wouldn’t winning a prize like that be a fantastic start to 2015!

I can’t wait to see all your entries because I’ll be one of the judges for the first round of the competition so do let me know in the comments when you’ve entered. I won’t be able to choose my favourites from the Twitter entries with my Twitter handle because that wouldn’t be fair so those entries will be short-listed by the judges from ‘Best at Travel’ who will also select the final winner. And, no, I’m not allowed to enter!
Good luck and Happy New Year!
